Machinist ToolBox™ v9.x Release Notes

Version 9.2 Updates:

*Machinist ToolBox™ is 100% compliant with the new Windows Vista™ Security Model
*Migrated from WinHelp to Context Sensitive HTMLHelp to properly support Windows Vista
*Updated Setup application to properly support Windows Vista
*Support for Windows™ 95/98/Me/NT has been dropped


This version is now 100% compliant with the new Windows Vista™ Security Model.
The Windows Vista™ Security Model requires the separation of an application and its user data.
The application should be installed to C:\Program Files\Machinist ToolBox
All interactive data files (files that can be read, modified or written), are now stored in COMMON_APP_DATA\Machinist ToolBox.
This is a system constant resolves to C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Data\Machinist ToolBox\ on WIndows Xp.
(On Vista these resolve to ..\ProgramData\...)

This new version of Machinist ToolBox™ is "Vista Aware" and does NOT require elevation for ANY user to properly operate.
The manifest data has been changed to disable virtualization and inherit the current user permissions.

All users should have Read/Write and Modify access to COMMON_APP_DATA\Machinist ToolBox\ regardless of the users Operating System.

The setup program will require elevation to run on Windows Vista™.
This is proper for all setup programs running on Windows Vista™ as Windows Vista™ requires all setup programs to run with Administrative Privileges.
